The Fair Use & Copyright principles provide a guideline for educators and students who seek to develop multimedia projects, using some parts of copyright works, for educational purposes and not for commercial use. Two important educational facts that we have learned about Fair Use & Copyright involving multimedia are the limitations of copyrighted motion media work and the copyrighted text material work.

The guideline for copyrighted motion media work allows educators and students to reproduce up to 10% or 3 minutes, whichever is less, of the work. The guideline for copyrighted work on text material allows educators and students to reproduce up to 10% or 1000 words, whichever is less, of the copyrighted text material.

The above guidelines will be pertinent information to share with our future students as they rely heavily on the use of the internet and multimedia for their research projects that are required not only at the elementary and secondary levels, but even at the university level or the work force we are preparing them for. It is important we understand the limitations of what may be used in our work so that educators may incorporate helpful media for the purpose of enhancement.

"The primary, the most urgent requirement is the promotion of education."
